Situated in the market square of Orton, a delightful unspoiled Cumbrian village beneath the Howgills, with all amenities: friendly pub, good shop with post office, chocolate factory and cafe. The only true Organic Farmers' Market in the North West is held here every second saturday of the month. Wonderful for walking and biking right from the cottage, and on the Coast to Coast walk. Ideal as active retreat or as romantic get away. Surrounded by beautiful countryside in all directions, between Lake District & Yorkshire Dales National Parks. Close to Kendal for buzz and dining.

Lavender Cottage is light and bright, recently restored to be stylish yet cosy and warm. It sleeps 4 people, and a cot is available.

Ground floor has entrance hall with heated coat rail and boot rack; two double bedrooms, one with en-suite shower, toilet and wash-hand basin; light modern bathroom with corner bath; understairs broom cupboard with central heating boiler for radiators, ironing board, etc., washer/dryer.

Upstairs is a single large open plan and beamed modern dining kitchen and sitting room. The sitting area has a woodburning stove between window seats, plasma wall television, corner leather sofa and chair, writing desk and coffee table with walking maps and games. The dining area has a bright open plan practical kitchen with island preparation, fully equipped, including a large side by side fridge/freezer, a stylish dining table with four chairs before a cosy gas-fired matching black stove, and plenty of storage (open shelves, a tall chest of drawers, and a wall cupboard). It is wonderfully light and warm, with underfloor heating upstairs as well as the gas & log burning stoves (wood provided).

Outside there is a small secluded rear courtyard, with private south-facing decked patio having a table and chairs and barbeque for eating out. There is space beneath for bicycles (at own risk) and a log supply.
