Description

There is a watermill recorded here in the Domesday Book, but the present buildings, including the miller's house, granary, mill and barns, are 18th and 19th century. Set in idyllic surroundings on the River Granta, the house has panoramic views across the garden and water meadows to the village where meals can be taken in the Pear Tree.
As well as Cambridge, Ely and Saffron Walden many other beautiful towns and villages of Suffolk and Essex are within easy reach. National Trust and English Heritage properties nearby include Wimpole Hall, Audley End and Anglesey Abbey. The Imperial War Museum at Duxford and the National Stud and Racing Museum at Newmarket are only a short drive away.

Children are welcome, but no smoking or pets please. We are open all year except Christmas & New Year.

Bed and breakfast and afternoon tea is £37.50 per night per person for one night. Two nights or more is £35.50 per night. Special rates apply for longer stays and children.

Directions to The Watermill

From the A11 junction with the A1307, we are exactly 2 miles. Ignore the two signs into the village of Hildersham, but take the drive on the left hand side about 100 metres past the second Hildersham turning. There are a telegraph pole and public footpath sign at the roadside. Follow the drive to the end, about 1/4 mile.
